Command Reference
Every command below is a Discord slash command — type / in the QuickBox.IO server and Discord filters the list as you type. Commands are grouped by what they do, not by who can run them; the Access column tells you what each one needs.
Start with /verify
If you own a QuickBox Pro licence, run /verify before anything else on this page. It is the recommended way to verify, and it is the shortest: a private conversation in your DMs where the bot asks for the email or username on your v3.quickbox.io account, emails you an eight-digit code, and you paste the code back. Nothing is needed from your server, and no keys change hands.
Three things happen when it completes. You get the 🌟Verified role, which is what the Verified commands below check for. Your onboarding quest is closed out for you, so there is nothing else you need to run to get moving. And your Discord account is linked to your QuickBox Pro account — which is the part that saves you work later: from then on /server add reads the active installs already on your licence and offers them to you as a list, instead of asking you to type in a server URL and a read key.
Verification resolves against a v3.quickbox.io account, so you need one. If you are still on the older quickbox.io platform, bring your licence across with the Migration Utility — signing in with Discord while you register does the Discord link for you in the same step, then run /verify.
The full walkthrough, including what to do when the email does not arrive, is on Verifying Your License.
Commands are gated by who you are — anyone, verified members, or staff — never by which surface you use. If a command is not gated for your role, it appears and works.

Media and recommendations
The /rec commands run in the #watch-recommendations channel, where you can look up any movie or TV show and share it with the community. Both replies are public, and every recommendation card carries 👍 / 👎 buttons so members can vote titles up or down. When several productions share a title, add the release year to pick the right one: soul man returns the 2012 series, while soul man 1986 or year:1986 returns the 1986 film. If you give both a trailing year and the option, the option wins. You can also narrow the kind of production with type:tv, type:movie, type:anime or type:short, or by ending the title with one of those words (soul man tv).
Card metadata is drawn from TMDb, with the IMDb rating supplied by OMDb. A TV series or anime also links to TheTVDB for episode-level depth.
| Command | Options | Access | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
/rec search | title (required) — a movie or show title, or an IMDb / TMDb link; year (optional), the release year to pick one production when several share a title; type (optional) - narrow to movie, tv, anime or short | Anyone | Returns a rich card — backdrop and poster, tagline, director, cast, studio, runtime, release, genres, ⭐ IMDb x/10 · TMDb x/10 ratings, and IMDb, TMDb (TheTVDB for a TV series), and ▶ Trailer buttons |
/rec top | limit — how many to show (3-25, default 10) | Anyone | The community's most-upvoted titles, ranked by upvotes minus downvotes. Any title with at least one vote appears |
Every card has 👍 and 👎 buttons — one vote per member per title. Pressing the same button again keeps your vote as it is; pressing the other button switches it. From the first vote, the Ratings line adds a Community 👍 tally showing the upvote percentage and total votes. Votes are stored anonymously.
The channel opens to verified members and is the place to talk films and TV — chat freely, @-mention QBXWatcher to talk titles or get a suggestion in prose, ask for a full card in plain words, run /rec search when you prefer the command, and see the community list with /rec top. Reel Riddle, the guess-the-title game, runs in the same channel.
Chatting about films
In #watch-recommendations you can @-mention QBXWatcher and talk films the way you would with a friend. It answers in prose, grounded in live data — it looks each title up rather than replying from memory — so release dates, cast, runtime, whether a sequel is coming, and whether a person is still with us come from current sources instead of a guess. It also keeps track of your recent conversation in the channel, so a follow-up like “what else by that director?” carries on where you left off.
You do not need a slash command to pull up a card. Ask in plain words and QBXWatcher posts the full recommendation card:
show me the card for Taxi Driver
can I see the details for the movie Blade Runner
card for that“card for that” cards the title QBXWatcher most recently suggested, and simply naming a title on its own (for example @QBXWatcher Taxi Driver) shows its card too. These natural-language asks work in every supported language. Prefer a command? /rec search does the same thing.
Reel Riddle
Reel Riddle is a guess-the-title game that runs right in the channel. The bot posts a film or show as four clues that unlock one at a time, and you race to name it. Everyone in the channel can play; nominating a title and checking your own stats are open to all members, while starting and ending rounds is left to moderators.
| Command | Options | Access | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
/rec riddle nominate | title (required) — a movie or show title, or an IMDb / TMDb link; year (optional), to choose between titles that share a name | Anyone | Add a title to the channel's nomination queue. You can queue several titles; a title someone already queued is skipped, and the first nominator keeps it |
/rec riddle queue | None | Anyone | See how many titles are waiting in the nomination queue, and how many of them are yours |
/rec riddle rules | None | Anyone | Show how Reel Riddle is played, in a reply only you can see |
/rec riddle stats | None | Anyone | Your Reel Riddle score, solves, and current streak, shown only to you |
/rec riddle start · /rec riddle skip | None | Moderators | Start a round in the channel, or reveal and end the round that is running |
/rec riddle start and /rec riddle skip are limited to members whose role carries the Manage Messages permission. Everyone else plays with nominate, queue, rules, stats, and the Guess button.
How a round works
The bot posts the title as four clues and reveals a new one every so often, typically about every 90 minutes across a round that runs a few hours. The clues build up like this:
| Clue | What it reveals | Points if you solve it here |
|---|---|---|
1 | Tagline, genres, and decade | 10 |
2 | Director, studio, and runtime | 7 |
3 | Two cast members | 4 |
4 | The plot overview, with the title blanked out | 2 |
Press Guess the title on the round card to open a guess box. You get one guess per clue, so a wrong answer costs you the rest of that clue’s window. Answer with a title (add the year when it is ambiguous) or an IMDb / TMDb link. The earlier you solve it the more you score, and on top of the clue points the first person to solve a round earns +3, plus a small streak bonus of +2 for each round you solve back to back, up to five rounds. When the round ends the card reveals the film with a full recommendation card and names everyone who solved it, and QBXWatcher usually follows up with a line of trivia.
Fair play
Reel Riddle keeps a few guardrails so each round stays winnable by whoever spots it first, and QBXWatcher shows this same list on every round card and on demand with /rec riddle rules:
- The round card names whoever nominated the title, and that person sits the round out — you already know the answer you proposed, so you cannot guess or score on it.
- Everyone else gets one guess per clue, so it pays to wait for the clue that makes you sure.
- Asking QBXWatcher for a hint about the live round gets a brush-off, not an answer.
- Running
/rec searchon the hidden title is blocked until the reveal, so you cannot pull up its card early.
