Installing applications

The recommended way to install and manage applications is the dashboard. Open App Dashboard → Package Management (/dashboard?mode=packages), find the application in the catalog (browse its category or search), and click Install. The dashboard streams the install log live and the app appears in your Application Control panel when it finishes. Reinstall, Update, and Remove are on the same panel.

What you see is gated by your account: admins manage any user’s apps and see the full catalog; regular users manage their own and see the applications their group allows. See App Management for the full walkthrough.

Install dialog inputs

Applications with options — a version or channel selector, a library path, a Plex claim token, a custom domain — present those as fields in the install dialog. There is nothing extra to type. See Channels & Versions for how version and channel selection works.

From the CLI (automation)

The qb CLI runs the same install scripts as the dashboard and is suited to automation, scripting, and headless servers:


qb help [application]
qb install [application] -u username
qb reinstall [application] -u username
qb update [application] -u username

A few applications (such as rtorrent) are system-wide and do not take -u. For the complete flag reference and per-application options, see the CLI Reference. To list every installable application from the terminal, run qb help software; to see a single application’s options, requirements, and flags, run qb help [application] (for example, qb help plex).
