Choosing a Reader

Calibre - Best for e-book management. Industry standard with extensive format support and conversion tools.

Kavita - Best for manga and comics. Modern interface with series tracking and user management.

Komga - Excellent for comics and manga. Clean interface with mobile app support.

Installation

Install any reader from the App Dashboard → Package Management panel (/dashboard?mode=packages): browse the E-Books & Comics category or search for the app, then click Install. The dashboard streams the install log live and the app appears in your Application Control panel when it finishes. Reinstall, Update, and Remove live on the same panel. Calibre and Kavita expose a Library Path field in the install dialog; Komga offers an optional custom-domain field for SSL.

What you see is gated by your account — admins manage any user’s apps, regular users manage their own. See App Management for the full flow, and each app’s page for its install-dialog inputs.

The CLI runs the same install scripts and suits automation:

qb install calibre -u username
qb install kavita -u username
qb install komga -u username

Integration with Readarr

All three applications work with Readarr for automated book and comic downloading:

  1. Readarr downloads books/comics
  2. Files are moved to your library folder
  3. Reader application automatically detects new content
  4. Browse and read in your web interface
